Scope & Content An oral history conducted with Laura Elze in December of 1966 by Dr. Richard Ryburg, Russ Farnsworth, Arlie Riggs and Mrs. Bly. Laura's father came from Germany and her mother was the first white child born in the German Colony , in the Wet Mountain Valley, on August 11, 1870. She talks about growing up and living in Westcliffe.

Laura was born April 6, 1883 in Custer County to Robert and Alalia(Knuth) Eikelman. She lived her entire life in Custer County. She married Otto Elze on January 3, 1912 in Westcliffe.
